CHESS 
For beginners to serious players, come learn this timeless game of strategy. Sharpen your skills, or learn to play! Students can expect to learn a great deal about the game as they improve their playing.

SEW SIMPLE 
Sewing really can be simple, and lots of fun! Come learn how to make that special dress, pair of shorts, or book bag, and develop a skill you'll use for a lifetime. Learn how to embellish your clothes and transform them into something new!

SINGING CLUB 
Like learning to play an instrument, singing involves good training and practice. Singing class will focus on healthy vocal techniques through vocal exercises and songs. Students will work on large and small group pieces, along with solos. There will be a vocal recital at the end of each term. This class is open to both boys and girls alike. In order to give individualized attention to each student, there is a 10 student limit for the class. If you love to sing, join us!

MATH TUTORIAL 
Extra math assistance and instruction in small groups from faculty Dan Armstrong & others. Math Tutorial continues all year long, but registration occurs per term to allow for flexibility in students’ changing schedules and proficiency. Math Tutorial is offered on Monday AND/OR Wednesday.

HOMEWORK HALL  
Need a chance to get your homework done before your busy afternoon and evening activities? Students focus on their work or silent reading in a quiet, supervised “study hall.” Sign up for one day or more, depending upon your needs. Homework Hall continues all year long, but registration occurs per term to allow for flexibility in students’ changing after-school schedules. Homework Hall is offered Monday through Thursday.

EXTENDED CARE
Downtime AFTER our language, enrichment, or academic support classes. Different than Homework Hall, this is a time for socializing, games, and just hanging out until parent or pick-up arrives. If your child does not head out by themselves for the bus, biking, walking, carpool or TRAX, this is a great option AFTER our other AFTER SCHOOL offerings.

INTRO TO DEBATE / SALT LAKE ARTS ACADEMY DEBATE TEAM   
Join SLARTS alum and co-founders of the non-profit, Salt Lake Urban Debate League in creating a middle school debate team here at Salt Lake Arts Academy! The scholarship of debate has set apart speakers, writers, and thinkers for centuries. Students will learn how debates are run, develop an understanding of contemporary contentious issues in our world, develop an ability to take both perspectives on an issue, and learn about "cutting cards". Get a head start this summer and persuade your parents it's meant for you!
