Bonwood Bowl has the lanes, shoe rental, and three games for our Monday afternoons.

CHESS CLUB

Discover an appreciation and enthusiasm for this timeless game of strategy. Maybe you'll be learning chess basics, or if you know your way around the board, you'll find your current game hitting new heights! We welcome all levels of experience. CO-ED FLAG FOOTBALL

Calling all 6-8th grade football players & fans! Join us to improve your football skills and understand the game at a deeper level. Each week we'll start with some drills, then play a friendly scrimmage game, with flags, no tackling or aggressive play. It's all your playing and enjoyment together outside --- we will be heading over to Liberty Park for plenty of space & a short games many meeting times. Rain or Shine! No prior experience necessary! GERMAN LANGUAGE + CULTURE

Let's explore the German language with conversational phrases, along with some art, culture, games, music, customs, celebrations, and more! Bring your curiosity and imagination while we make friends and have fun discovering more about the world around us. We will delve into understanding more about the incredibly diverse peoples who make up the country which plays a huge role in Europe and around the world! Former students encouraged to join in and extend their language skills, but all levels are welcome.

MECHANICS & THE ART OF TINKERING ~ this group is closed ~

Have you ever heard of 'jerry rigging' something? It means building, fixing, or making something quickly using whatever loose parts or items may be close by. (It might look messy, but it is getting the job done.) Each week we'll be messing about, learning how things work through experimentation, disassembling/reassembling, digging into a bit of research learn, and plenty of hands on tinkering. Let's figure out how certain things 'tick' in ways people don't do much anymore .... from radios to engines to toasters, we're sure to have fun getting our hands dirty and learning a ton. A visit to The Bicycle Collective is also part of the plan! Instructor: Grey Bakken

SONG & PERFORMANCE AS COMPOSERS & PLAYWRIGHTS

Do you have a story that belongs on the stage? Write for performances and music with Ms. Carn to bring your play or musical to life! We will plan out your original plot, write scenes, compose songs, and prepare a professional style script reading at the end to showcase all of your hard (and fun) work. Instructor: Lauren Carn

SLARTS MATH-LETES / MATH COUNTS PREP

Join other math-letes as you discover the inherent beauty of math and extend your skills, challenging yourselves & each other with new problems every week. You'll work together to build a team that is ready for competition this coming winter with group practices on timed problems, new learning strategies, teamwork, and more. This is not math tutorial. The collaborative mathematical thinking and problem solving in Math Counts is typically above grade level and sufficiently challenging to push students to even greater heights. If Math is your thing, this is for you!

~ Open to Grades 6, 7 & 8th ONLY, math students who have covered & are ready for advanced concepts and may be eligible to compete later this year

HOMEWORK HALL

Need a chance to get your homework done before your busy afternoon and evening activities? Students focus on their school work or silent reading in a quiet, supervised “study hall.” Sign up for one day or more, depending upon your needs. Homework Hall continues all year long, but registration occurs per term to allow for flexibility in students’ changing after-school schedules. Homework Hall is offered Monday through Thursday.

EXTENDED DAY ~ ONLY FOR STUDENTS ENROLLED EARLIER IN THE DAY ~

Downtime AFTER our enrolled after school classes, this unstructured, but supervised time is different than Homework Hall or our other activity-based classes. Socialize, play games, and just hang out until a parent or pick-up arrives. If your child does not head out by themselves for the bus, biking, walking, carpool or TRAX, this is a great option AFTER our other AFTER SCHOOL offerings. In the fall, we will primarily be outside on the north courtyard. Our school wide Cell Phone Policy is still part of our day and students should NOT have their phones out even during this time of day. Please text Kathleen if you need your child ready to leave immediately, otherwise they will see you pull up. Parents are always welcome to come inside to visit if they choose to.
