BEHOLD THE HARMONICA
Make a life long relationship with the incredibly versatile harmonica. We'll start with basic techniques, explore different genres of music, depending upon class interest & favorite songs, and stretch your practice. Since the harmonica appears in such a wide range of styles: of course, folk, blues, rock n' roll, and country, but you can also find it in jazz or classical music. The more proficient you become, the more we'll explore. Then drum up your courage and try your hand with a band! We'll use a 10-hole diatonic harmonica in the key of "C", provided for you. Class size is limited to six players. Instructor: Howard Horowitz plays regularly in Park City & has enjoyed playing for decades! (He is also closely tied to our school as the former Chess Coach and parent of an alum during SLArt's very first years.)

HOW TO DRAW MANGA
Learn the foundations of how to draw comics by studying manga like Witch Hat Atelier, Delicious in Dungeon, and other popular series! The class will cover character design, improving sketching and inking skills, telling stories with images, different manga styles and genres, the history of manga, and more! Instructor: Sam Wilson

TAP DANCE CLUB
Everybody loves a dance break in a musical when those tap shoes hit the floor! Why not join in? This semester we'll be "time-stepping," "cramp-rolling," and "shuffling off to buffalo" as we learn the beloved musical theatre dance style ~ TAP! We'll study the tap greats, like 42nd Street, and choreograph our own dances as well, sharing them with an audience during a final showcase! *Tap students will need to purchase their own shoes for this class, typically in a $25 - $30 price range. GIRLS WHO CODE
Who are Girls Who Code? Girls Who Code is a national program on a mission to close the gender gap in technology. These free clubs are for girls and non-binary students to join a sisterhood of supportive peers & role models using computer science to change the world! See yourself as a computer scientist while you learn the concepts of loops, variables, conditionals and functions that form the basis of all computer languages. Work in teams to complete a computer science impact project that solves a real-world problem in our community!

~ Girls Who Code offers a few field trips during the school year to nearby locations on which days we will likely need to end later in the afternoon, closer to 5:00 pm. Students will return to the school and parents will always be notified ahead of time. Parent volunteers welcome and allow us to travel for more field trips during the school year!
~ Girls Who Code loves to bring in Women with jobs in Computer Science or other STEM/technology fields to present to the girls as a visiting presenter .... If you work in these fields, or know someone we might reach out to, please let us know.
RADIO PLAYS
Discover the fun of foley arts! Never heard of it? Make the sound effects, incorporate music, and find the voice of your characters that move the story along, creating a vivid experience for the listener. Maybe we'll figure out how to sound out a raging storm, a fight scene, or a mysterious animal; Whether we are using pre-recorded sounds, handling objects that whir, crank, or ring out loud, we'll have a great time working out all the specifics. Our semester is packed with fun as we learn about the history of radio plays, write our own scripts, record them, and have a theatrical performance presented solely through audio. RUN CLUB
Join this team of runners who will be training ~ until spring! ~ for the SLC Marathon, Half, 10K, or 5K in April 2027 with TEENS RUN SLC. While you do not need to have running experience to join in, you must have an authentic (student-led;) desire and commitment to train twice a week here at school (rain or shine, almost all temperatures), in addition to training independently at home as directed by Coach T. Learn about gradually building up your running practice in a healthy, safe way to achieve your goals .... not only for a Turkey Trot this fall, but to take on longer races in the spring . . . . and future life goals as well.
Coaches: Coach T & SLArts Alum Kira Hill-Filben, and other guest runners.
We welcome any parent runners who wish to join us and occasionally lead the group as volunteers & assistants.

MATH TUTORIAL
Extra math assistance and instruction in small groups from our Math faculty & others familiar with our CPM Math curriculum. Our grade level groups focus on both math homework completion while also developing conceptual math understanding. Math Tutorial continues all year long, but registration occurs per term to allow for flexibility in students’ changing schedules and proficiency. Math Tutorial is offered on Tuesday AND/OR Thursday.

Need a chance to get your homework done before your busy afternoon and evening activities? Students focus on their work or silent reading in a quiet, supervised “study hall.” Sign up for one day or more, depending upon your needs. Homework Hall continues all year long, but registration occurs per term to allow for flexibility in students’ changing after school schedules. Homework Hall is offered Monday through Thursday.

Downtime AFTER our enrolled after school classes, this unstructured, but supervised time is different than Homework Hall or our other activity-based classes. Socialize, play games, and just hang out until a parent or pick-up arrives. If your child does not head out by themselves for the bus, biking, walking, carpool or TRAX, this is a great option AFTER our other AFTER SCHOOL offerings. In the fall, we will primarily be outside on the north courtyard. Our school wide Cell Phone Policy is still part of our day and students should NOT have their phones out even during this time of day. Please text Kathleen if you need your child ready to leave immediately, otherwise they will see you pull up. Parents are always welcome to come inside to visit if they choose to.
