CHESS CLUB 
Whether you want to prepare for tournaments or just improve your understanding of chess basics, you will definitely have fun as you develop an appreciation and enthusiasm for this timeless game of strategy. Join us to learn chess openings and principals along with a few opening tricks and traps (and how to avoid them!) Solve chess puzzles. Analyze chess positions. Learn to play through basic endgames with ease. Have fun testing your chess skills across the board from a friendly opponent in weekly practice games. You will feel your confidence increase as your tactical abilities, pattern recognition, calculation, and the ability to visualize the board several moves ahead improve. CRAFTERNOONS: HOLIDAY EDITION   CLASS IS FULL & CLOSED FOR TERM TWO
An afternoon dedicated to crafting with our fall and winter holidays in mind -- Halloween, Thanksgiving, Solstice, and more! Many days will include an edible craft to enjoy as well. All skill levels are welcome. Have fun creating items to keep, share, or give as gifts while socializing with new and old friends.  Limited to 15 crafters.

LET'S MAKE AN ADVENTURE MOVIE!  CLASS IS FULL & CLOSED FOR TERM TWO
Students will study the first three Indiana Jones* films, then collaborate to plan and produce our own action-adventure movie! Students will get an introduction to valuable tools/ingredients of action filmmaking, including set pieces, storyboarding, suspense/peril, physical acting/stunts, editing/pacing, and music. (*Please note that these films contain some scenes of violence and sometimes gruesome deaths.)

MATH COUNTS TEAM 
Join the SLArts Math Counts group to discover the inherent beauty of math while preparing for the Math Counts competition in February! Perhaps we will even continue onto the State competition in March. We practice with timed problems, learning strategies, teamwork, and more. Instructor: Zane Colter + we welcome Parent Volunteers! 
~ This class meets TWICE A WEEK on MONDAY + WEDNESDAY and is offered for free through our Math department*.   
~ Open to all grades, but primarily 7th & 8th graders who will be eligible to compete this year

ROBOTICS CLUB - 5th GRADERS ONLY  
In this intro level club we will design, build and program robots to problem-solve and develop creative engineering skills in small groups. Robots are built from a reusable platform, powered by Android technology, and can be coded using a variety of levels of Java-based programming.  Instructor: Jake Paszko

YOU GOAT THIS ~ GOAT FLOAT   
We love water and fun all year round! We'll be indoors as we head into winter --- anywhere we can dive in and enjoy ourselves. We'll swim, slide, splash, and play games. You also need to sign separate waivers for YGT.

HOMEWORK HALL 
Need a chance to get your homework done before your busy afternoon and evening activities? Students focus on their school work or silent reading in a quiet, supervised “study hall.” Sign up for one day or more, depending upon your needs. Homework Hall continues all year long, but registration occurs per term to allow for flexibility in students’ changing after-school schedules. Homework Hall is offered Monday through Thursday.

EXTENDED DAY 
Downtime AFTER our enrolled after school classes, this unstructured, but supervised time is different than Homework Hall or our other activity-based classes. Socialize, play games, and just hang out until a parent or pick-up arrives. If your child does not head out by themselves for the bus, biking, walking, carpool or TRAX, this is a great option AFTER our other AFTER SCHOOL offerings.
