ANIMAL LOVERS SOCIAL CLUB ~ this group is closed ~
Do you adore animals? Do you want to share your love for our furry friends with like-minded folks and with local advocacy groups and services? Well, here is your chance to truly show up and provide both visitations at the shelter through a few field trips there, as well as learning more about the animals near and far. Connect with the other animal lovers here at school to create active change in our community.

COZY ANIME AFTERNOONS ~ this group is closed ~
If you want to share your love of beautiful Japanese animation (anime) together in a low-key atmosphere, join us in Anime Afternoons! We'll take in some of our favorite films, like The Secret of Kells, A Cat In Paris, Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Wallace & Gromit. (We can choose some together, too .... ) while we sketch out favorite characters, create some of our own, sip warm herbal tea, and even do some crafts relating to the stories we are following. IMPROVISATION & MOVEMENT GAMES: A CONTEMPORARY DANCE APPROACH
In this imaginative and dynamic class, students explore the art of improvisation. Using movement games and creative exploration, participants discover how to make artistic decisions in the moment -- building confidence, spontaneity, and collaboration skills that extend far beyond the dance studio. Although it is rooted in contemporary dance practice, this class also speaks directly to actors, musicians, and visual artists, making it a rich experience for any creative young person who wants to discover that improvisation is not just an art form -- it's a life skill!

FENCING with SALT CITY SWORDS CLUB ~ this group is closed ~
Try out this unique, lifetime sport that has been a part of every modern Olympic games since 1896! It is often described as "chess at 80 miles per hour" while it also helps students develop coordination, confidence, balance, discipline, and quick decision-making skills under pressure. And .... it is a lot of fun! Salt City Swords is a non-profit club dedicated to growing Olympic fencing in Utah. They will bring all of the necessary equipment for both Epe and Foil sword work. Discover what working with swords and sabors is all about right here at our school. Instructors are all from Salt City Swords Fencing Club and are experienced in working with middle school age people.

SCIENCE & NATURE LOVERS CLUB
Become a steward of nature with hands-on science experiments, enriching community engagement, and learning from the natural world all around us. We'll be off on plenty of field trips, while diving deeper into our environment and enriching our STEAM learning! SLARTS MATH-LETES / MATH COUNTS
Join other math-letes as you discover the inherent beauty of math and extend your skills, challenging yourselves & each other with new problems every week. You'll work together to build a team that is ready for competition this coming winter with group practices on timed problems, new learning strategies, teamwork, and more. This is not math tutorial. The collaborative mathematical thinking and problem solving in Math Counts is typically above grade level and sufficiently challenging to push students to even greater heights. If Math is your thing, this is for you!

WORLD BUILDING & ROLE DESIGN ~ this group is closed ~
Learn how to build a world of your own imagination where you can create all the details for D&D campaigns as a Dungeon Master OR for other role playing games, and then watch your vivid world unfold with the players! Choose details around small settings or vast places, the storylines to bring people into, characters from heroes to villains who inhabit your world, the lore behind the characters, convincing backgrounds, and much more. This class will bring greater depth to your world and its characters, enhancing play for everyone involved. Instructor: Grey Bakken

HOMEWORK HALL
Need a chance to get your homework done before your busy afternoon and evening activities? Students focus on their school work or silent reading in a quiet, supervised “study hall.” Sign up for one day or more, depending upon your needs. Homework Hall continues all year long, but registration occurs per term to allow for flexibility in students’ changing after-school schedules. Homework Hall is offered Monday through Thursday.

EXTENDED DAY ~ ONLY FOR STUDENTS ENROLLED EARLIER IN THE DAY ~
Downtime AFTER our enrolled after school classes, this unstructured, but supervised time is different than Homework Hall or our other activity-based classes. Socialize, play games, and just hang out until a parent or pick-up arrives. If your child does not head out by themselves for the bus, biking, walking, carpool or TRAX, this is a great option AFTER our other AFTER SCHOOL offerings. In the fall, we will primarily be outside on the north courtyard. Our school wide Cell Phone Policy is still part of our day and students should NOT have their phones out even during this time of day. Please text Kathleen if you need your child ready to leave immediately, otherwise they will see you pull up. Parents are always welcome to come inside to visit if they choose to.
