WEDNESDAY Term 4

ANIMAL LOVERS SOCIAL CLUB
Do you adore animals? Do you want to share your love for our furry friends with like-minded folks and with local advocacy groups and services? Do you love creating art and other objects for and of animals themselves? Here is your chance to truly show up and provide both visitations at a shelter through a few field trips, as well as learning more about the animals near and far. We may also be able to create homes and toys for their comfort and safety! Connect with the other animal lovers here at school to create active change in our community.

BEHOLD THE HARMONICA
Learn how to rock the harmonica and you can make a life long relationship with an incredibly versatile instrument! When groups of folks gather together to play favorite songs on guitar, piano, violin, & others, the harmonica is an easy instrument to integrate and join right in.We'll learn the basic techniques, deepen your interest in music, and stretch your practice. Since the harmonica appears in such a wide range of musical styles --- not only folk, blues, country, and rock n' roll, but also jazz and classical music --- we'll get to explore as we become more proficient. Breathe the chord changes softly, and then you get to play some solos. After we study several familiar songs that will introduce us to some fundamental techniques, we'll jump into other songs that have less intuitive techniques. Along the way, we will touch on some ideas about music theory and generally have a great time playing!  We will be using a 10-hole diatonic harmonica in the key of "C". Instructor Howard Horowitz, who plays regularly in Park City and has been enjoying this classic instrument for decades! (He is also our former SLArts Chess Coach, and a parent of an alum from the Salt Lake Arts Academy's very first years!)
