SLArts After School Program Description
Registration for
The Salt Lake Arts Academy has several high quality After School Enrichment classes in our 2022 - 2023 program to spark curiosity and extend students' interests and learning. SLArts After School Classes are fee-based*, open exclusively to SLArts students, and primarily take place at school.
OUR DAILY ROUTINE: Monday through Thursday, students Check In to the After School program at 3:05 p.m. right outside the north doors in the NORTH FIELD AREA, line up for a snack, and then go to their After School class at 3:15 p.m. Registered students are expected TO STAY ON SCHOOL GROUNDS (without any trips nearby convenience stores or businesses). Parents will be notified if their child leaves grounds. Continued disregard to this rule will result in dismissal from our program for the rest of the term. When classes are finished, they can leave for home, or head to our Extended Day component until 5:30 p.m. (Extended Day begins at 4:15 pm only for students having come from an earlier class.)
On Fridays, After School students head outside for a snack between 12:35-12:45 or so, then to one of their Friday classes until 3:00 pm. There is NO Extended Care portion after 3:00 pm on Friday.
Salt Lake Arts Academy is committed to following the recommendations from the Utah Department of Health, the Salt Lake County Health Department, and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to keep our community healthy, and keep our school open for In-Person Learning. We are following the same protocols we do during our school day. We will adjust our expectations regarding mask use dependent upon the above recommendations and our case counts with new, developing variants of Covid-19.
Salt Lake Arts Academy students are required to follow the same rules and expectations of behavior as a regular school day in their respective classes. These After School classes are unique opportunities to extend and expand upon their creative learning in their classrooms.
All disciplinary problems will be referred to the After School Director, as well as our Dean of Students and/or the Principal. Refunds may not be given, or will be issued on a case by case basis, if your student is asked to leave due to disciplinary issues. Since our After School program is an elective option, any student who is disruptive or disrespectful will not be able to participate in the program for the remainder of the term, semester, or year depending upon the behavior as determined by school administrators.
*We have tuition assistance funds available to assist applicants and their families who cannot meet the costs of the program. Financial assistance will be awarded to students who qualify for a Fee Waiver. The same Income Eligibility Guideline will be used for families who may not qualify for a Fee Waiver but who are requesting financial assistance.
*Please note that the tuition assistance materials will be held confidentially throughout the calendar year and only one Fee Waiver form is necessary for the year for the After School Program, but new class requests, via email to the After School Director, are necessary for registration as each term changes. All financial assistance application materials will be destroyed when the program has concluded, or at the end of the school year..
