A Little Bit About Me...

I was one of the parent Founders at Salt Lake Arts Academy, when my daughters were in 2nd and 4th Grade at Wasatch Elementary, many years ago! I joined SLArts' staff in 2012, and spend my days here working to advance the mission of our school, raising funds and friends, working with parent volunteers, managing special events and communications, and supporting our Governing Board in their work.

I'm a 5th generation Utahn, although I did go to California for college, earning my B.A. at Scripps College in Claremont, CA. My professional background is in public relations and fund raising consulting, coaching nonprofits in Capital Campaign management, Governing Board training and Volunteer management. I've served on many nonprofit boards, including the Utah Foster Care Foundation, the Junior League of Salt Lake City and the Utah AIDS Foundation. I'm married to John, an attorney, and I love reading, travel and hiking with our chocolate labrador (with a hint of basset hound!), Nova.

Both my daughters attended SLArts (my oldest was in our very first 5th grade class) and they -- like so many of our alumnae -- say that being at SLArts made them feel like part of a tribe.  Every day I am inspired and energized by the joyful, creative learning that takes place here. I'm very proud of our Teachers and Students and so grateful to be part of a community where we value differences, inclusion, risk taking and kindness.
