My name is Scott Sorensen. I am starting my third year at Salt Lake Arts Academy. This is my 11th year teaching with experience working in the Davis School District and Spectrum Academy. I have an undergrad and a Masters degree in Special Education. I am also starting my in Doctorate in Instruction Design through Johns Hopkins University.
I am excited to work with my students as the Special Education Director at Salt Lake Arts Academy. My hope is that students can perform to the best of their ability. I strive to give them the tools and skills that they need to be successful in the class room. I try to make school fun and a place that they want to come through positive teacher/student relationships, peer relationships, and a curriculum that they are excited about.
Students who have Academic Studies with me will have the opportunity to finish assignments from their other classes in a small group setting so that they have more individualized help. Students often feel more comfortable asking questions in a smaller group. In Academic Studies students will receive a CAB grade which measures their cooperation, attitude, and behavior. They will also receive a PEPR grade which measures their preparation, effort, participation, and risk-taking.
