Salt Lake Arts Academy 7th grade student Allie Badger has been notified that she will be receiving a top award for her artwork, which was created for The Great Salt Lake Bird Festival Art Contest. The awards ceremony is at the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival on Friday, May 15.
SLArts Visual Arts Teacher Elizabeth Wilson said Allie's artwork is an amazing, detailed watercolor, which depicts the chosen bird for this year's contest — the Black Necked Stilt. Several SLArts classes did independent research about the bird's physical structure, habitat and unique qualities. Students created their own artwork portraying a Black Necked Stilt with their choice of material.
