Admissions Information Nights, School Tours and Shadow Days

Salt Lake Arts Academy is a public charter school enrolling 410 students in grades 5-8; we will enroll 410 students beginning in the 2021-22 school year.  We charge no tuition and admit students from across the State on a space-available basis. By law, we select students through an admissions lottery, where students are randomly selected from all applications received. Our application deadline for the 2022-23 Admissions Lottery is midnight on  February 18, 2022.  If we have more applications than spaces available, students are placed on a wait list.  Our upcoming 5th grade class will have the most openings each year.  Openings in 6th, 7th and 8th grade vary by year, but can be limited due to our low student turnover. Once your student has been accepted at SLArts, they are accepted for their entire middle school career, unless they withdraw.  Preference is given to siblings of current and alumni students, children of faculty members, and children of members of the school's Governing Board.

To help students and families decide if Salt Lake Arts Academy is right for them, we conduct multiple Admissions events throughout the school year.  We will be holding a number of Admissions Information Evenings, both at school, and on Zoom. We will limit the number of people attending the Admissions Info Evenings. We will be posting dates and links to sign up for an event, soon.  Just as in years past, we strongly encourage prospective families to attend one of these events. This is your chance to hear more about our school, look around, meet some current students and ask questions. Our Admissions Info Sessions at school will be held on these dates:

Each Admissions Information Session  will begin  with a presentation from our leadership team, with time for Q&A, and will conclude with a tour of our school facility.  If you need special accommodations please let us know. Parents and prospective students are invited!  Check here soon to sign up for an Admissions Info Session!

If you can't join us for an Admissions Information Session you may join a small group tour of our school on Tuesday mornings, beginning in November. These tours will be led by our Registrar or 8th Grade Ambassadors, and are designed to give you a quick overview of the school in action.  
 

Traditionally, in late February, after the lottery draw, accepted students are invited to attend a Shadow Day, where they can experience a day in the life of a SLArts student.  We will announce our Shadow Days later in the winter.
