Admissions Information Nights, School Tours and Shadow Days
Salt Lake Arts Academy is a public charter school enrolling 400 students in grades 5-8. We charge no tuition and admit students from across the State on a space-available basis. By law, we select students through an admissions lottery, where students are randomly selected from all applications received. Our application deadline for the 2020-21 Admissions Lottery is midnight on February 21, 2020. If we have more applications than spaces available, students are placed on a wait list. Our upcoming 5th grade class will have the most openings each year. Openings in 6th, 7th and 8th grade vary by year, but can be limited due to our low student turnover. Once your student has been accepted at SLArts, they are accepted for their entire middle school career, unless they withdraw. Preference is given to siblings of current and alumni students, children of faculty members, and children of members of the school's Governing Board.
To help students and families decide if Salt Lake Arts Academy is right for them, we conduct multiple Admissions events throughout the school year. We are hosting four Admissions Information Nights this fall and winter -- we strongly encourage prospective families to attend one of these events. This is your chance to hear more about our school, look around, meet some current students and ask questions. We hope you can join us on one of these evenings:
- Thursday, November 14, 5 p.m.
- Monday, January 13, 5 p.m.
- Wednesday, January 22, 5 p.m.
- Tuesday, February 4, 5 p.m.
In late February, after the lottery draw, accepted students are invited to attend a Shadow Day, where they can experience a day in the life of a SLArts student. We will run several Shadow Days for students after they have been accepted to SLArts.
