Celebrating the Class of 2026 at 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony

On Wednesday, May 27, we celebrated the SLArts Class of 2026 during our annual 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony at the First Baptist Church in Salt Lake City, surrounded by their teachers, families, friends, and a community that has cheered them on every step of the way.

The class selected teachers Nate Christensen and Judson Armstrong as speakers. Class of 2026 student Zoe Jensen performed a piano piece, and Vivian Terry performed a violin piece accompanied by her father. Student speakers Markayla Auger, Addie Chapman Collier, and Stevie Amundsen shared memories and reflections from their past four years.

Principal Deborah Candler read the names of 91 students who will go on to attend 12 different high schools across the valley and one out of state. A heartfelt thank you to our entire faculty and staff for standing shoulder to shoulder to greet each student with high-fives and send them off with love and pride.

Over the years, these students have grown into thoughtful artists, curious learners, creative risk-takers, and supportive friends. They’ve built lasting friendships, discovered their voices, and helped shape the spirit of our school in meaningful ways.

We are so proud of all they’ve accomplished and so excited for everything ahead as they begin the next chapter of their journey.

Stay curious.
Stay creative.
Be yourself.

And remember — you will always have a home here at SLArts. We can’t wait to see what’s next for each of you.
