Whitney Childers, Advancement Director

Whitney joined the SLArts team in the summer of 2025, eager to contribute to the growth and success of an amazing community. As Advancement Director, she leads SLArts fundraising and handles school-wide communications.

She has a passion for arts-based education and a strong background in fundraising, community engagement, public relations, nonprofit work, and strategic business development.

Whitney spent 13 years as a newspaper and magazine reporter and editor. She then became the Media & Communications Director for Women’s Ski Jumping USA, the team that famously pushed for gender equality in the Olympic Games. That effort led to her role as film producer on the award-winning documentary Ready To Fly.

Whitney was part of a team that launched the crowdfunding platform RallyMe, and while serving as the Director of Operations, it was successfully acquired by SportsEngine/NBC Sports in 2016.

Wanting to get back to her love of design and writing, she started Glee Media in 2018, a web design and wordsmith studio. She also has worked for the Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games as an editor for the Olympic Information Service.

Over the years, she’s led large-scale fundraising efforts for schools and nonprofit organizations.

Whitney lives in Salt Lake City with her husband, Sam, and teenage son and daughter.

She is drawn to the SLArts’ commitment to foster creativity and artistic expression. As the parent of a modern dancer, she has witnessed firsthand the transformative power of the arts in shaping well-rounded, talented, and innovative thinkers.
