Ingrid Martinez, Science 5 & Digital Learning
Hello! I'm Ingrid Martinez, and I teach fifth grade science. I was born in Guatemala and moved to the United States when I was 9 years old. I was raised mostly in our beautiful state of Utah.
From an early age, I have always held a love and curiosity for the natural world. After earning my Secondary Education degree in Biology from WGU, I'm now teaching my favorite subject! While science is my greatest passion, I've also worked as a preschool teacher in both NAEYC-accredited and Montessori settings. Additionally, I spent 10 years in the nonprofit world as director of a theater summer program for elementary and middle school students in the Salt Lake City Avenues. All of my career ventures have been in education, and I'm lucky to have met so many wonderful people and students along the way.
Raising my kids has been the biggest adventure of my life! I have two amazing children, Mili and Andy, and a furry dog child named Ada (after Ada Lovelace). As a family, we enjoy the outdoors and going on great vacation adventures. We love music and rocking out to songs in our living room. We like exploring our city and supporting our local economy—visiting bookshops, consignment stores, record shops, good places to eat, and more. We also love visiting extended family and enjoying my mom's Guatemalan cooking. Our favorite family show to watch together is Bob's Burgers.
In my personal time, I love hiking and going on road trips to explore either nature or cool cities. I really love spending time with my friends and seeing live music of all kinds. I also enjoy reading, entertaining, and taking my dog on long walks.
Salt Lake Arts Academy is definitely my home away from home, and I thank my lucky stars I get to be a part of this great community!
