Angilyn has been a registered nurse for 13 years, with experience across a variety of hospital units including Medical-Surgical, ICU, and Same Day Surgery, caring for both adults and kids. She also speaks Spanish and has lived in Costa Rica and Honduras, where she served as the sole nurse for a volunteer organization—an experience that forced her to lean into adaptability and resourcefulness!
Born and raised in Utah, Angilyn now lives in Daybreak with her husband, Nate, and their two young daughters. She loves traveling whenever she can, but more often finds herself at home chasing her kids around instead of laying in a hammock on an exotic beach somewhere, iced “dirty chai latte in oat milk with brown sugar cold foam” in hand (in case you were wondering her favorite coffee order – wink wink). In her free time, you’re just as likely to find her tackling word and puzzle games, spider solitaire, or escape rooms as you are to catch her lost in a podcast or audiobook. She also has a knack for tinkering, kitchen appliances beware!
Her favorite part of nursing is empowering people to live their healthiest lives, with a special passion for prevention. She’s excited to bring her expertise, energy, and enthusiasm to SLArts, helping ensure the health and safety of every student.
What’s the difference between a School Nurse and a School Nurse Consultant?
A School Nurse is usually on campus every day. They’re the ones students might visit when they don’t feel well, need medication, or get hurt at school. They also help create individual health plans for students who need extra support.
A School Nurse Consultant plays more of a behind-the-scenes role, most often off-campus. Instead of being at school every day, they focus on keeping students safe by building health policies, creating safety plans, and coordinating with parents, doctors, and teachers. They also make sure school staff are trained and ready to handle the everyday health needs that come up, while stepping in directly for health screenings or student-specific plans when needed.
At SLArts, you’ll most likely hear from Angilyn if your student has a chronic health condition that requires help at school. From there, she’ll work with the school staff to make sure your child feels cared for, supported, and safe at school. You will continue to hear from SLArts directly for any temporary health concerns, like sickness or injury.
