Stitching Stories and Building Connections Through Art

On Monday, May 18, 8th grade students in Ms. Fenn’s Humanities class presented their final quilt and board projects as part of the Smithsonian Institution’s Democracy in Dialogue Virtual Exchange Program.

During this special gallery stroll, students shared not only their incredible artwork, but also their experiences exploring community, identity, perspective, and connection through research and virtual exchanges with Millburn Middle School in New Jersey.

Each quilt and presentation board reflected thoughtful storytelling, creativity, and personal perspective, highlighting the meaningful conversations and collaborative learning that took place throughout the program. Through both art and dialogue, students examined the ways communities are shaped by culture, experience, and shared understanding.

The evening offered guests an opportunity to celebrate the ideas of our students while witnessing the intersection of humanities, art, and civic engagement. We are grateful to Ms. Fenn for bringing this project to life and for everyone who joined us to celebrate the students' hard work and achievements.
