Libbi Malmborg, Speech & Language Specialist
Libbi is a Utah native with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Utah and a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Rhode Island. With over 30 years of experience working with children, families, and service providers, she has supported students in residential and day treatment programs, public and private schools, private practice, and in-home settings.
She believes children learn best by actively engaging with the world around them, especially through play. Her work focuses on strengthening students’ emotional well-being and creating inclusive environments where every child feels seen, supported, and capable. Libbi encourages students to take ownership of their learning by asking questions, thinking critically, and seeing themselves as active participants in their educational journey. Central to her philosophy is nurturing strong relationships among students, families, and educators, recognizing that connection is foundational to both learning and mental health.
She is committed to helping students develop essential soft skills — including empathy, problem-solving, persistence, conflict resolution, and creative thinking — so they grow into confident, compassionate, and self-directed individuals who will carry their communities forward with courage and a collaborative spirit.
Libbi and her husband, Alex, a chef, live in Salt Lake City with their two top-notch daughters, Arlo the dog, Margaret the cat, and eight chickens. As a family, they love dinners, laughing, games, stories, water, camping, backpacking, skiing, biking, baking, and couch time.
