Information Nights, Tours & Shadow Days

Salt Lake Arts Academy is a tuition-free public charter school enrolling 416 students in grades 5-8, approximately 104 students per grade. Students are admitted on a space-available basis. By law, we select students through an admissions lottery, where students are randomly selected from all applications received. The Admissions Lottery for the 2026-27 school year will take place in February 2026.

A link to apply to the 2026-27 school year lottery will be posted soon.

Our upcoming 5th grade class will always have the most openings each year.  We admitted 104 5th Graders for the fall of 2025. Openings in 6th, 7th and 8th grade vary by year, but can be limited due to our low student turnover. Once your student has been accepted at SLArts, they are accepted for their entire middle school career, unless they withdraw. Preference is given to siblings of current and alumni students, children of faculty members, and children of members of the school's Governing Board. We do admit students from our waiting list every year!

Admissions Information Nights

To help students and families decide if Salt Lake Arts Academy is right for them, we hold a number of Admissions Information Evenings at school throughout the winter. We strongly encourage prospective families to attend one of these events. Each Admissions Information Session will begin with a presentation from our leadership team, with time for Q&A, and will conclude with a tour of our school. Parents and prospective students are invited.

School Tour

If you can't join us for an Admissions Information Night you may join a small group tour of our school on Thursday mornings, beginning in November. You may schedule these tours by calling Jen Guillory at our front desk (801-531-1173.) These 45-min tours will be led by our Registrar or 8th Grade Ambassadors, and are designed to give you a quick overview of the school in action. It's best if the parent/guardian can also bring their student along for the tour!

Shadow Days

Traditionally, in late February after the lottery draw, accepted students are invited to attend a Shadow Day, where they can experience a day in the life of a SLArts studentWe will announce our Shadow Days after Winter Break.
