THE FRONT CLIMBING CLUB PARTNER CAMP:
THE ART OF CLIMBING
Climb and observe the beauty of vertical movement while developing your figure drawing skills! This unique partner camp combining rock climbing and figure drawing will be held at The Front Climbing Club during the mornings. Most days at the gym we’ll start by using our bodies to understand vertical movement, good footwork, and balance to learn how to be a better climber. Then after beginning to develop an understanding of the anatomy beneath our skin as our muscles warm up, we can break out our sketchbooks to create gestural studies of figures on the wall. Students will also take turns creating interesting climbing poses for their classmates to sketch while top roping or bouldering.

Growth mindset - the understanding that ability and intelligence can be developed.

Math is more than numbers, it is the connection of big ideas that we actually see and use everyday. In this class visual, open-ended projects create a fun way to learn big ideas in math and how they are connected. Projects will include building, designed to teach concepts of space and volume, photography with a focus on shapes and fractions, painting shapes to develop analytical thinking of space, and a lot of team work and exploration which develop reasoning skills crucial in math as well as other subjects. Students will have many creative opportunities to develop a thinking, conceptual approach to mathematics, to question, to make mistakes, and to grow their brains. They will learn to see math with curiosity and excitement, rather than apprehension. This class will help students grasp math concepts or take their understanding of these concepts to a deeper, richer level.
