SLArts After School Program Description
The Salt Lake Arts Academy has several high quality After School Enrichment classes in our 2023 - 2024 program to spark curiosity and extend students' interests and learning. SLArts After School Classes are fee-based*, open exclusively to SLArts students, and primarily take place at school. We begin the TERM 3 & SPRING SEMESTER program during the week of JANUARY 22 - 26, 2024. Please note most term-length classes will wrap up prior to Spring Break, while semester-length classes have various ending dates in May. Our program typically wraps up around the time of the SLArts Festival. This year our last week will of the program in general will be the week prior to Memorial Day.
OUR DAILY ROUTINE: Monday through Thursday, students head outside the north doors in the NORTH FIELD AREA, line up for a snack, and Check-In to the After School program. At 3:15 p.m. when teachers come out to get after school students, they will then head to their respective classes/clubs. Registered students are expected TO STAY ON SCHOOL GROUNDS (without any trips nearby convenience stores, Boba, ice cream, or other businesses prior to 3:15 p.m.). Parents will be notified if their child leaves grounds if they are not with a class. Continued disregard to this rule will result in dismissal from our program for the rest of the term or semester. When classes are finished, they can leave for home, or head to our Extended Day component until 5:30 p.m. (Extended Day begins after 4:15 pm, only for students having come from an earlier After School class.)
On Fridays, After School students head outside for a snack between 12:35-12:45 and then to one of their Friday classes until 3:00 pm. There is NO Extended Care portion after 3:00 pm on Friday.
Salt Lake Arts Academy students are required to follow the same rules and expectations of behavior as a regular school day in their respective classes. These After School classes are unique opportunities to extend and expand upon their creative learning in their classrooms.
All disciplinary problems will be referred to the After School Director, as well as our Dean of Students and/or our Principal. If your student is asked to leave due to any disciplinary issues whether for the day, the rest of the term, or the rest of the semester -- Refunds may not be given. Since our After School program is an elective option, any student who is disruptive or disrespectful will not be able to participate in the program for the remainder of the term, semester, or year depending upon the behavior as determined by school administration. Suspension/Expulsion shall not be arbitrary, or capricious.
*We have tuition assistance funds available to assist applicants and their families who cannot meet the costs of the program. Financial assistance will be awarded to all students who qualify for a Fee Waiver. The same Income Eligibility Guideline will be used for families who may not qualify for a Fee Waiver, but who are requesting financial assistance.
*Please note that the tuition assistance materials will be held confidentially throughout the calendar year and only one Fee Waiver form is necessary for the year for the After School Program, but new class requests, via email to the After School Director, are necessary for registration as each term changes for all scholarships. All financial assistance application materials will be destroyed when the program has concluded, or at the end of the school year.
Courses, dates, and prices are subject to change
